Christmas Markets in Strasbourg | A Must Do Experience

Ever wondered what it's like to step into a real-life fairytale?

Welcome to Petite France, where cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses and canals whisk you away to another era. Walking through this charming corner of Strasbourg feels like stepping right into a postcard.

During the holiday season, Strasbourg transforms into the "Capital of Christmas," and the Christmas markets here are truly something special! ✨

From the twinkling lights to the scent of mulled wine and fresh-baked treats, every corner of the city is filled with festive cheer. We explored the famous Christkindelsmärik, one of the oldest and most enchanting Christmas markets in Europe, where you can shop for unique crafts, enjoy Alsatian delicacies, and soak in the magical atmosphere. From the delicious Alsatian cuisine (we tried so many amazing dishes!) to the rich history woven into every corner, this place is pure holiday magic.

With my two kids (8 and 3) I travelled via train from Germany to Strasbourg. Train is the most stress-free option to travel within Europe during wintertime, in my opinion! We stayed right in the city, in an apartment 10 minutes walk from the train station, and we only had to walk around 6 - 10 minutes to any of the Christmas markets. There are about 14 different ones around Strasbourg. It was an amazing experience for the whole family - from getting to explore Strasbourg from the water on the river via an amazing 1 hour tour, to tasting (and drinking) our way through the markets, it's truly a once-in-a-lifetime must-do experience.

A destination for everyone - families with kids, couples, friends, young or old - you will find something to make your visit to Strasbourg unique and special. If you need some ideas and some help planning your European Christmas, contact me!
