The difference for me was that I was divorced, so I wasn't running away!
I became enraptured by Greece's beauty - the scenery, the food, the climate, the people, the culture and the history.
I couldn't get enough and subsequently have visited another three times since. 16 islands in total in several different regions. People often ask me which island is my favourite, but I can't honestly pick one. However, I do have a soft spot for Lesvos. My best friend owns a house there, and I have stayed there several times.
And yes, I did have my 'Shirley Valentine' fling on my first visit, just as I'd manifested...
