Discover the Magic of Bill Bensleys Hotel de la Coupole in Sapa, Vietnam

I’ve experienced many enchanting destinations and fabulous hotels, but few have the elegance and wow factor of Hotel de la Coupole in Sapa, Vietnam.

Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of northern Vietnam, this gem offers a unique blend of French colonial charm and local Hmong influences, making it the perfect retreat for travellers seeking both luxury and authenticity.

Designed by the renowned architect Bill Bensley, Hotel de la Coupole has a whimsical and sophisticated design, with something to discover in every corner. The rooms and suites are spacious and opulently appointed, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and terraced rice fields.

The Nuages Spa offers treatments that blend traditional Vietnamese techniques with modern wellness practices, providing a serene escape where you can unwind and rejuvenate.

Meanwhile, dining at Hotel de la Coupole is an experience in itself. The hotel offers several dining options, each offering a unique culinary journey. Sample French-Vietnamese fusion cuisine at Chic or enjoy a casual meal at Cacao. My favourite was the field mushroom soup and the desserts that looked like works of art. Don’t miss the chance to sip a cocktail at Absinthe, the bar which has stunning views as the sun sets over Sapa.

While the hotel itself is a masterpiece, the real magic lies in the adventures that await you in Sapa.

Sapa is famous for its ethnic diversity, with the Hmong, Dao, Tay, and Giay communities living in the surrounding villages. You can take a guided trek through terraced fields to visit these villages. You can also explore the local area independently, such as Cat Cat Village, which is a little touristy but still worth the visit to interact with local families, learn about their traditional crafts, and gain insights into their way of life.

For the adventurous, a trip to the summit of Mount Fansipan is a must. Known as the "Roof of Indochina," Fansipan is the highest peak in the region. You can hike to the top or take the cable car for a more leisurely ascent, both offering breathtaking panoramic views.

Another way to immerse yourself in local culture is with a visit to one of Sapa’s bustling markets. These markets are a riot of colour and activity, with vendors selling everything from fresh produce to handmade textiles. It’s the perfect place to pick up a unique souvenir or simply soak in the lively atmosphere.

The Hotel de la Coupole has impeccable service, unique design and is in prime location making it a great base for exploring the region and a perfect place to rejuvinate afterwards.
