The people are friendly and hospitable and highly recommend staying in local Riads in the Medina areas of their cities. Each Riad is unique, with each family-run place decorated in its own style and creating a very homely environment. Always welcoming and home-baked foods and, of course, lots of Mint Tea served traditionally.
Fes is the place to shop for local products, including handmade leather goods, beautiful hand-crafted ceramics, and, of course, many beautiful Moroccan carpets and rugs. Highly recommend visiting where these products are made with a trusted government guide or your tour guide. We travelled with On The Go Tours, and our guide, Jamal, did all the bargaining for us. You can be cheeky and start at one-third of the price and meet somewhere in between.
The food is always amazing, from the delicious tagines and cous cous dishes to some of the best seafood and lamb dishes. Also, there is a large selection of Vegan and Vegetarian dishes. My favourite was the Meatball Tagine, which was spicy and delicious.
