Japan in Cherry Blossom Season

I headed over to Japan with my husband in April 2019 during cherry blossom season. I didn't know what to expect, but even so, the country and its people blew me away.

Japan has a beautiful blend of tradition and modernity. We were lucky enough to be there when the Emperor abdicated the throne for the first time in 300 years. The people celebrated this monumental occasion for a week. Their pride in their country is what impressed me the most.

Of course, as a Disney Holidays & Theme Park travel specialist, I had to check out Disneyland Tokyo & DisneySea, and it was well worth it. If you're planning on visiting the parks, you can save yourself some money by staying at one of the partner hotels located in Tokyo Bay rather than at Disneyland itself. The prices are significantly lower, but the hotels are within walking distance to the Disney monorail, making it easy to get to and from the parks.

A highlight of our trip would be the one night we stayed at the base of Mount Fuji. Most people do a day trip from Tokyo to Mt Hakone to view Mt Fuji, but it's all a risk with the weather. On a foggy day (which is most days), you won't see much of the mountain. As we stayed at the base, we were lucky enough to get a beautiful view for about three hours in the morning before it disappeared in the cloud. If it's high on your bucket list, don't leave it up to chance!
