Crystal clear waters and overwater villas are very much the expected norm in the Maldives, instead, I'm amazed by the unexpected small touches that made me feel like a very special welcome guest.
For me it was my personalised bike for the duration of my stay at Joali Being where my private jadugar (aka divine butler) woke me especially to see some turtle hatchlings. The special sign on my door to welcome me back to my villa at Conrad Rangali where I enjoyed my private time with doors flung wide open.
Most of all - snorkelling with whale sharks with Conrad Rangali's amazing Marine Biologist. We can all see photos of these magnificent creatures online - but this was my special view looking down as I paddled like crazy to keep up. I still dance about in excitement when I think about it.
