From the moment I set foot in Bhutan 5 years ago, I knew I would be back every year - until the pandemic struck. The friends I have made on each and every journey have become like family and this is what you can expect if you so desire. The country and her people rest deep inside your heart once you have experienced the pristine countryside and the cleanest air in the world. To clarify, this always excites me as Bhutan is carbon negative and around 75% of the country lies in forest.
Positioned on the edge of the Eastern Himalayas, you will be excited to fly over Mt Everest on your approach to the International Airport in Paro. Many say that descending into Paro is a highlight as the skilled pilots negotiate the gap between the mountains. However, the runway is long and the planes are big but nonetheless it certainly is a wonderful experience.
I have climbed the world-famous Tigers Nest - 'Taktsang' - three times which I am told makes me a local and who am I to dispute this?
So I hope you enjoy a glimpse of my second home, enough to perhaps fly with me on our next adventure with my company Enticing Bhutan. Click for more from me about Bhutan.
