Arizona is so much more than stunning deserts and epic sunsets—it’s also home to some seriously amazing food.
Whether you’re road-tripping USA, or staying put in one of Arizona's vibrant cities, there’s no shortage of delicious spots to fill your plate. I was lucky enough to be a guest of Arizona Tourism in 2024, and the foodie culture caught me by surprise. It is definitely a destination to add to your list and a great place to eat.
Here are a few of my favourites:
1. The Mission, Scottsdale
This spot is all about modern Latin cuisine with a twist. The table-side guacamole is an experience in itself, and their pork shoulder tacos? Let’s just say you’ll be dreaming about them long after you leave. Oh, and the Spicy Marg!!! I don’t even like Tequila!!! This place is at the top of my list, and I can’t wait to get back there.
2. El Charro Café, Tucson
Arizona’s oldest Mexican restaurant, El Charro Café is an institution. They’ve been serving up authentic Sonoran flavours since 1922. The Carne Seca (sun-dried beef) is their signature dish, and it’s like nothing else you’ll find.
3. Café Monarch, Scottsdale
If you’re after something fancy, Café Monarch is perfect. It’s all about fine dining in an intimate setting. Think multi-course meals paired with impeccable service. Definitely a splurge, but worth every cent.
4. Proper Meats + Provisions, Flagstaff
Up in the cooler high country, this local butcher shop turned café serves the freshest sandwiches made from sustainably sourced meats. Their pastrami Reuben is a knockout.
5. Caesars Republic, Scottsdale
Dining at Caesars Republic Scottsdale's rooftop bar and restaurant is an unforgettable experience. With sweeping views of the iconic Camelback Mountain and Scottsdale’s vibrant cityscape, this elevated venue combines breathtaking scenery with exquisite cuisine. The menu features a fusion of contemporary dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients (pictured in the main image above), complemented by expertly mixed cocktails and a curated wine list. The sophisticated ambience, paired with the warm Arizona sunset, creates the perfect setting for a romantic evening, a celebratory dinner, or simply enjoying the luxury of the moment. It's also an awesome hotel to stay at, right near the best shopping in the area and plenty of amazing attractions.
Arizona’s food scene is just as diverse as its landscapes. Whether you’re into casual eats, upscale dining, or something in between, there’s something here to satisfy every craving. Have you been to any of these spots? Or do you have a favourite I should check out next time I’m in Arizona?
