Dancing with the Maasai. We visited and learnt from the local Maasai people in Ngorongoro - an unforgettable encounter. Engaging in traditional dances, learning about their customs, and gaining insight into their harmonious relationship with the land adds depth to our safari experience. Their way of life, their happiness, and the children stole my heart. I even did some dancing with them.
As we ventured into the Ngorongoro Crater, We were mesmerized – we felt like we were in the garden of Eden, and our breath was taken away by the rich diversity of birdlife that calls this place home. From the graceful flamingos dancing along the shores of Lake Magadi to the majestic eagles soaring high above the crater rim, every moment is a testament to the untamed beauty of nature. Bird enthusiasts will delight in spotting a myriad of species, including colourful bee-eaters, vibrant sunbirds, and elegant crowned cranes, adding a symphony of colours to the panoramic views. Just be careful as they might fly in and join you in your vehicle in search of some snacks!

But the avian wonders are just the beginning. The Ngorongoro Crater is also renowned for its abundant wildlife population, offering unparalleled opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike. As you traversed the crater floor, we are amazed by the numerous silhouettes of elephants roaming freely, their gentle demeanour juxtaposed against the rugged terrain.

As we continued our journey, we encountered the enigmatic hippos lazing in the cool waters, their massive forms creating ripples on the surface as they submerged and resurfaced with effortless grace. Nearby, dazzles of zebras roam the grasslands, their striking black and white stripes a testament to the wonders of natural adaptation.

Back at the Nomad Entamanu Ngorongoro Camp, we set up with sundowners and took a moment to unwind in the lap of luxury amidst the untamed wilderness. Each elegantly appointed room (well, tent, but they are not just a tent … this is glamping at its best) offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, allowing time to breathe and reconnect with nature without sacrificing comfort. We indulged in gourmet meals prepared with the freshest local ingredients, accompanied by fine wines from the camp's extensive cellar.
