Rockies to The Red Rocks with Rocky Mountaineer

Rockies to The Red Rocks with Rocky Mountaineer

Arrival into Denver, Colorado

A city I was excited to come back to - now to hear about the new street art wow! To experience it was even better. Denver's vibrant street art scene is a visual feast, transforming the city into an open-air gallery. From the RiNo (River North) Arts District to the Santa Fe Arts District, colourful murals and graffiti express diverse narratives. Local and international artists contribute to the city's ever-evolving urban canvas, making Denver a street art enthusiast's paradise.

Denver's Central Market

After a walking tour of this amazing area, it was time to catch up with some other travel agent friends in the central market. Denver's Central Market is a culinary haven, housed in a historic building in the RiNo Art District. Boasting a communal atmosphere, this food emporium showcases diverse vendors offering artisanal cheeses, fresh produce, gourmet coffee, and more. It's a gastronomic adventure where locals and visitors can savour the vibrant flavours of Denver's thriving food scene. The beer, the cocktails and the food are as good as the street art.

The early morning start is worth it as we board The famous Rocky Mountaineer for their newest journey: Rockies to the Red Rocks. The staff with big smiles, waving their flags to welcome us. Breakfast and Mimosas served.

Rocky Mountaineer's scenic rail journey from Denver to Glenwood Springs unveils the picturesque beauty of the Colorado Rockies. Travellers are treated to breathtaking views of rugged canyons, verdant landscapes, and the majestic Colorado River. Luxurious amenities and attentive service elevate this experience, creating an unforgettable adventure through the heart of Colorado's stunning terrain.

Welcome breakfast onboard the Rocky Mountaineer, Rockies to Red Rocks new rail journey.

On arrival into Glenwood Springs, a walk across the bridge to the hot springs is definitely recommended. But here is my tip! If you go after 6pm you'll get a discount and the savings are worth it. Amazing hot springs on a beautiful night is the perfect way to end the day.

Another early morning, but the coffee waiting at the train station and the food makes up for it. The journey aboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Glenwood Springs to Moab is mesmerizing, taking in the awe-inspiring landscapes of the American West. Traverse the dramatic canyons and witness the transformation from lush greenery to the iconic red rocks of Moab. With unparalleled comfort and panoramic views, this Rocky Mountaineer rail adventure offers an unforgettable exploration of nature's wonders, a testament to the iconic rail company's commitment to delivering a unique and luxurious travel experience. Arriving in Moab makes you feel like you've entered a different world. Dinosaur remains, a small town, just 1 uber driver! Extending the stay is worth it. I recommend staying at The Hoodoo downtown, and a visit to the Food truck park across the road connects you with the locals and the great food.

Next stop, Arches National Park. I had no idea what to expect, and I didn't expect this... so expect the unexpected! The scenery in my photos don't do it any justice at all. Arches National Park, a truly geological wonderland in Utah, will mesmerize you with over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, towering fins, and balanced rocks. The park's surreal landscape, shaped by wind and erosion, showcases the delicate balance between nature's forces and artistic creation. Brilliant red hues, contrasting against the azure sky, create a visually stunning and unforgettable panorama.

Our second last day and I didn't think it could any better. Bit it did! Canyonlands National Park. Those that know me know I love the ocean, it's my happy place! Well, the emotion, the clean air, the serenity; I found another place where I was at complete peace. Yep the above photo wasn't even staged - it was a candid moment from a fellow traveller. I lost myself, and I relaxed. So here we are in Canyonlands National Park, a rugged expanse in southeastern Utah, capturing visitors with its spectacular blend of deep canyons, towering mesas, and the winding Colorado River. Carved over eons by the elements, the park's diverse landscape unveils the Island in the Sky mesa, the Needles District's striking spires, and the Maze's intricate labyrinth. At sunrise and sunset, the canyon's hues transform, casting a warm, ethereal glow on the intricate rock formations, making Canyonlands a captivating and ever-changing natural masterpiece.

It was our last night in Moab, so it was a night to go and check out the town!  Woody's Tavern is the famous local bar. An eccentric collection of music and people, and despite ordering the same round of drinks, the price changed every time. It was a night we will talk about forever; it is a trip I will always remember and something to be added to everyone's bucket list.
