I seek big skies, small ships, history, delicious food and wine and quiet roads, all without sacrificing comfort and amenities.
Whilst I am skilled in travel planning and booking destinations around the Globe, using a wealth of experience and trusted supplier resources, I enjoy nothing more than planning an incredible open road trip, either guided or independent, for my myself and my clients. It's finding the quieter roads, the smaller towns, the little hotel gems that I think can lift an itinerary into the category of being an unforgettable journey.
When cruising, I prefer small to mid sized ships so I can feel a connection with the ocean and have less chaotic port visits, something that is hard to do on a mega liner with 3000 people, 16 decks above the waves. Expedition cruising is my passion, with Antarctica being the most breathtaking place I have ever travelled to. To explore this continent with a small group of like minded people is like no where else you will ever go, a must see in anyone's lifetime.
When travelling independently, I love nothing more than an epic road trip and the USA has options in spades, either by car or motorcycle. I have ridden across many states in the USA, through their incredibly beautiful National Parks and enjoyed amazing days and nights on the road. Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Colorado and South Dakota being amongst my favourite places to hit the road for adventure. Scotland is another favourite for self drive discovering, the country is overflowing with history, natural beauty and hospitality.
If participating in group travel, I enjoy smaller groups with a high standard of accommodation, guidance and inclusions. I like to learn about the history of the places I visit, to see how a place has either evolved or dissolved over time. I choose how I travel dependent on the destination I am heading to. For places where I am not familiar with the language or customs, I seek guided journeys, but always small group or private to get the most out of my precious holiday time and experiences.
