I have been a travel agent since 1995, working for both large and small companies, and as a home based contractor. I have travelled extensively around over 100 countries and to all 7 continents.
I have stayed in budget and luxury accommodations and have used many types of transport to get around, such as economy and business class flights, small planes, helicopters, hot air balloons, cruise ships, river cruises, smaller boats, canoes, feluccas, local buses, luxury coaches, trains, go-karts, car, taxi, tuk-tuk, jeepney, motorbike, bicycle, scooter, sled, elephant, camel, donkey, horse, and on foot.
I love all types of adventure activities – skiing, snowboarding, scuba diving, skydiving, bungy jumping, snorkelling, hiking, canyoning…. I also love photography and trivia.
I have travelled solo, as a couple, with friends, with young children and with teenagers. I have travelled on group tours and cruises with 18-35’s and with mostly over 60’s. I have done camping and backpacking trips, as well as luxury and everything in between, so personally know very well the different styles of travel to help everyone.
While my preferred style of travel is go-go-go, fitting in as many sights and experiences as possible, I am equally able to help plan my husbands preferred style of travel – relaxing, eating and drinking.
As much as I have loved everywhere I have been to, I continually want to see places I haven’t been. My favourite part of the world that I keep wanting to return to however, is Africa. I always say there are too many places on this planet to still see to waste time going back somewhere I have been before, but Africa is unique, in that, with the animal experiences, every day is different and you never know what you are going to see. Now I just try to vary the parts of Africa I go to to experience more of this planet.
After nearly 20 years of working for companies in traditional store fronted agencies, I have been enjoying working as a home based contractor since 2014. It gives me the flexibility to work 24/7 no matter where I am in the world. While I’m on my own holidays, I am still able to help my clients personally, so there is no palming you off onto colleagues who don’t understand the background of your trip and don’t care about your trip as much as I do. I don’t have a boss insisting on reaching sales targets. Being a travel agent to me is more a hobby than a money making career. I strive to get my clients the best possible deals, so they can see that the time and money I save them, and the advice I give them with my vast experiences, gives them the best possible trip, and makes them want to keep coming back to me and referring people on to me for their trips. I choose the agency to contract to based on their strength and volume of buying power amongst wholesalers and suppliers to allow me to get the best deals possible, as well as being a secure, long running company with strong financial backing, fully licenced and insured.
