After school I went on to study at Sydney University majoring in foreign languages and spent 6 months as an exchange student in the UK. I then went on to a 13-year career in the computer software industry in sales and management. Together with my husband and sons we travelled the world as “free spirits” for 2 years and in 1989 I established my own travel company which notched up 32 successful years this year.
Today my travel company – The Impulse Travel Group – spans both retail and corporate travel as well as a number of specialist wholesale travel brands that include Momento Travel Services, Above & Beyond Holidays, Adriatica, The Small Ship Adventure Co and Paradise Discovered.
Our expansion over the years has been through acquisition and diversification and is not over by any means.
The travel industry has given me the opportunity to expand my world view and make me a more rounded and empathetic person. I consider myself to have been very fortunate in my life but I have always worked hard in and on my business because that’s the secret of success for any business owner.
